Key Partners Award – Blain Heckaman

“Born and raised in Indiana, I played college basketball and lived the movie ‘Hoosiers,’ only in the 1970s instead of the 1950s,” he says.

Blain L. Heckaman arrived at Kaufman Rossin in 1984 and today is the firm’s managing principal. He has served as engagement partner of public and private audit clients. As such, he believes a key partner is a professional who is a trusted adviser to business clients, one’s employer and the community, whose efforts are “always performed with integrity and ethical behavior,” he says.

In his time with the firm, Heckaman has come to respect Chairman and CEO Jim Kaufman as a role model and his own key partner.

A CPA in Florida and Indiana, Heckaman is a director and treasurer of Voices for Children Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for the Guardian Ad Litem program.

“I strive to play the role of a key partner by example, not only by how I practice my profession, but how I live my life,” he says. “Empowering and challenging people around me to bring out the best in them. Always do the right thing.”

Blain Heckaman, CPA, is a Chief Executive Officer at Kaufman Rossin, one of the Top 100 CPA and advisory firms in the U.S.
