Best Places to Work Awards 2018: Learn more about the Large Companies winner, finalists
In a tightening labor market, many companies up their game and offer more perks to attract and retain the best and brightest. And some companies offer best-in-class benefits, regardless of market conditions.
In many ways, those employers are the Best Places to Work.
They take benefits, bonuses and other inducements beyond the everyday to elevate life in the workplace. Professionally, they’re matching mentors to protégés and offering robust team-building events to grow their entrenched knowledge base and internal skillsets.
They may offer stand-up desks, in-office massages and on-site gyms – or holiday parties and special events that will become the stuff of lore for years to come.
Some of these perks cost money. Most, however, simply require a commitment to making the workplace better for the worker, which in turn drives client service and business performance. To those companies, that’s the definition of being among the Best Places to Work.
Our 45 honorees were celebrated at a Feb. 22 luncheon event at Signature Grand in Davie. Many thanks to our corporate sponsors, AvMed and Quantum Workplace, and our associate sponsor, Signature Grand, for their support.
No. 1: Kaufman Rossin
Company culture in five words: Dynamic, supportive, rewarding, inclusive and fun.
Why a potential hire should work for us: Our firm is more than just the perks we offer; we believe in “people first” and diversity. We believe our employees to be more than just co-workers; we are a team. We offer the top-notch advancement opportunities, benefit packages and on-site perks we do because we believe that people matter.
It’s no secret that tax season is stressful, filled with long hours and time away from home and family. Kaufman Rossin tries to counter life’s chaos and complications.
The firm offers flexible work schedules and allows employees to work from home when needed. Massages, yoga classes and on-site physical therapy are offered, as is a nearby “stress management corner” with coloring book therapy, to help ease that stress and allow employees to unwind. There’s an on-site gym and sauna, and meditation classes are coming soon.
This dynamic, innovative and fun work environment helps separate the firm from others, and has helped ease stress and boost engagement, founder and CEO James Kaufman says.
Joy at Work, one of the firm’s core values, brings it all together.
“We work hard. And we play hard,” he says. “We appreciate our co-workers, enjoy our facilities and share good times. That’s not something you hear often about accounting firms. But at Kaufman Rossin, we keep things balanced.
“Over the years, we’ve retained our original character – same management vision, same culture and same unique DNA,” Kaufman says. “When employees can feel the appreciation and investment we make in their careers, it becomes a two-way street. People come here for the tremendous opportunities. They stay here because our firm culture makes it a great place to work.”
