MIAMI, Nov. 29, 2010 – Kaufman Rossin, one of the largest independent accounting firms in Florida, was recently among the sponsors for the 2010 “Elevator Pitch” contest presented by The University of Miami’s Launch Pad. The event took place on November 16 and drew the attention of more than 130 South Florida businesses, all vying for $100,000 in prizes.

Ralph MacNamara, director of client services with Kaufman, Rossin, was among the panel of judges who evaluated 90-second pitches from 22 finalists and decided the 2010 student and community winners. Additionally, the firm donated $10,000 in free accounting and tax services to the winners.

“The participants presented ideas showcasing a wide range of industries, demonstrating incredible creativity and innovation,” said MacNamara. “But what impressed me most was how many of these businesses are already well beyond the proof-of-concept stage. These entrepreneurs are truly ready to launch!”

The winners in the community category were Jason Weber of Fingerlings and Marcos Menendez of Momares. In the student category, the winners were Tyler McIntyre of Lucid Technologies and Brittany Starks of BLONG.
