Kaufman Rossin Promotes 10 Professionals to Senior Manager
Kaufman Rossin, one of the top 100 CPA and advisory firms in the U.S., has promoted Caridad Valdes-Perez, Andres Suarez, Claudia Bendana, Jose Cuneo, David Garcia, Eliot Schellenberg, Melinda Mergelsberg, Brandon Johnson, Vlad Janov and Jimmy Miller to senior manager.
Valdes-Perez, CPA, is a senior manager in the firm’s assurance and advisory services department, where she leads consulting and audit engagements for clients ranging from startups to large companies in a variety of industries. A co-founder of the firm’s Diversity Initiative and the Kaufman Rossin Empowering Women committee, Valdes-Perez has been with Kaufman Rossin since 2007.
Suarez, CPA, is a senior manager in the firm’s assurance and advisory services department. He works with clients in a variety of industries on audit and consulting engagements and is experienced in performing audits and providing advisory services for clients ranging from startups to large corporations with multi-state and international operations. Suarez joined the firm in 2006.
Bendana, CPA, is a senior manager in the firm’s estate and trust department with more than two decades of experience in accounting for estates, trusts and guardianships. A former probate paralegal, Bendana specializes in the preparation of complex fiduciary income tax returns, hedge fund partnership returns and individual income tax returns for high-net-worth individuals. She joined the firm in 2007.
Cuneo, CPA, CFF, CVA, CFE is a senior manager in the firm’s forensic, advisory and valuation services department and joined the firm in 2012. He performs forensic investigations of public, private, government and nonprofit entities and has worked with Latin American governments to conduct forensic analysis of bank transactions and trace funds to offshore accounts. His practice includes preparation of prospective financial information and due diligence; calculation and analysis of lost profits and damages; and work on breach of contract disputes, financial fraud investigations and embezzlement investigations.
Garcia, CVA, CPA, CFE is a senior manager in the firm’s forensic, advisory and valuation services department. He brings to his work a wide range of expertise, providing traditional audit, accounting and business consulting services. Garcia’s forensic accounting experience includes forensic accounting investigations as well as litigation support services and analysis for complex legal cases. He joined Kaufman Rossin in 2012.
Schellenberg is also a senior manager in the forensic, advisory, and valuation department, providing forensic and accounting services to clients throughout South Florida, relating to family law matters. His experience includes litigation consulting, complex accounting, forensic accounting, and financial matters, and he has worked with professional athletes, as well as companies in industries including manufacturing, pharmaceutical and financial services. He joined Kaufman Rossin in 2010.
Mergelsberg, EA, is also a senior manager in the forensic, advisory, and valuation department. She brings clients more than a decade of experience in accounting and tax services, working with closely-held businesses and their owners, as well as nonprofits. Her work includes forensic accounting, litigation support, tax and estate planning, financial reporting, and management advisory services.
Johnson, CPA, is a senior manager in the tax department, where his experience includes preparing and reviewing federal and state tax filings for domestic and international corporations and providing clients with tax compliance and tax provision reviews in accordance with ASC 740 standards. His industry experience includes transportation, oil and gas, technology, hospitality, real estate, and sports/entertainment. He joined the firm in 2014, after more than four years with a Big Four firm.
Janov, CPA, is a senior manager in the tax department, providing federal, multi-state, and international tax compliance and consulting services to companies and individuals, with a concentration in private equity investments. Janov works with asset managers, as well as onshore and offshore investors, to navigate complex federal, multi-state and international tax regulations. He is a valuable consultant in areas including fund formation choice of entity, tax efficient structures, tax waterfalls, onshore and offshore feeder funds, and foreign investor tax withholding.
Miller, CPA, is a senior manager in the firm’s tax practice, where has worked since 2008. In addition to providing clients with tax advice and compliance services, Miller assists in representing clients before federal and state agencies, including the IRS. He also counsels clients during audits, helping taxpayers respond to inquiries, communicating risks, and helping navigate through the examination process. He has experience with state, local and international tax and is the chair-elect of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Miami-Dade chapter.
