Survey: 55% of Miami-Dade Business Leaders Expect to Increase Staff This Year

In its first survey distributed to both members and non-members alike, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce found that many of the region’s business leaders are optimistic about the health of their companies and expect them to grow in the coming year.

Of the 237 responses the Chamber and survey partner Kaufman Rossin received, 84 percent expect a healthier business in the coming year, 63 percent say their company is healthier than it was a year ago and 55 percent expect to increase staff at their firms.

Respondents were identified as the CEO, president or owner of a business in Miami-Dade County, and among them, 46 percent were Greater Miami Chamber members.

Executives from larger companies were more likely to express positive goals over the next year, and companies with one to five employees project that their business will have “about the same health” in the next 12 months as it does now.

However, there were major concerns about how the executives would grow their business. They cited too few large companies to do business with in Miami-Dade County, too much competition for fundraising for nonprofits, not being able to find a talented workforce and lack of strong technology community.
