Kaufman Rossin in the Community: Cats Exclusive

Read

Amanda Vecchio of Kaufman Rossin talks about her involvement in the community.

Which organization are you involved in and what is its objective?

Biscuit, shown before (left) and after (right) he was rescued by Amanda Vecchio with the help of Cats Exclusive.

I am involved with Cats Exclusive. This organization is a no-kill animal shelter and low cost veterinary clinic. They seek to provide all cats with the opportunity to be adopted into a loving home and provide owners access to quality, affordable care for their pets. In addition to low cost vaccine and spay/neuter services, they perform wellness exams, dental cleanings, and other services for cats and vaccine/spay/neuter services for dogs. The adoption center adopts out almost 400 cats and kittens per year. Cats Exclusive also hosts numerous fundraisers, educational events, and community outreach programs to enlighten owners about proper pet care and kindness.

What is your role with the organization?

I am a volunteer and supporter of the organization.

Why did you decide to get involved in this organization?

As an animal lover, I want to work with and help organizations that promote the welfare of animals. Cats Exclusive not only provides shelter and care for animals, but they also help me in my personal efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats. Because of the affordability of the resources from Cats Exclusive, I am able to rescue elderly cats from animal control that require a hospice environment and give them a home to peacefully enjoy their last few weeks or months. My most recent rescue, Biscuit, was a severely underweight, diabetic, partially blind, 19-year-old cat. Because of Cats Exclusive, I was able to almost double his weight, regulate his blood sugar, and eliminate all fleas/parasites.

How has Kaufman Rossin contributed to your success with this organization?

The Kaufman Rossin culture continues to encourage the growth and success from those inside and outside of the firm. When you’re part of the KR family, you can see the variety of organizations helped and the actions taken to aid others. As you see others contributing and making a difference, it really inspires you to do the same and become as involved as possible.

What is your advice for others who are thinking about getting involved in the community?

Do it! You will be amazed at how you will find time and resources to contribute when it is for an organization you care about. There is no other feeling like being able to show an animal (or person) compassion when they wouldn’t have had it otherwise.
