Kaufman, Rossin in the Community: Educate Tomorrow
Read
Kara Stearns Sharp talks about her community involvement.
Which organization are you involved in and what is its objective?
I’m involved in Educate Tomorrow, which serves Miami-Dade County’s foster care youth and strives to make education an attainable goal for even the most disadvantaged.
What is your role with the organization?
I am a member of the board and the Finance Committee. My colleague Patrick Gannon, who is an audit, consulting and forensic accounting services principal, is also on the board and serves on the Audit Committee.
Why did you decide to get involved in this organization?
I made the decision to get involved with Educate Tomorrow both from a personal and a networking perspective. The foster children of our community are very near and dear to my heart because I am adopted and very grateful for all I have been able to achieve because my parents opened their home and hearts to me. From a professional aspect, the organization has introduced me to a great network of other professionals in the community. For many reasons, I truly enjoy participating in the all of the events.
How has Kaufman, Rossin contributed to your success with this organization?
The firm supports Educate Tomorrow’s annual wine party and gala, allows us time to attend board meetings and volunteer at workshops, and it helps me raise money for this organization through jeans day fundraisers.
What is your advice for others who are thinking about getting involved in the community?
First find your passion; everything else will follow.
