Onetti Ceballos and Sandra Otero talk about their involvement in the community.

Which organization are you involved in and what is its objective?

We are involved in Fight Hunger, which started in 2010. Its objective is to end homelessness and poverty among youth in Miami, help them to grow as productive adults and guide and prepare them in their future development. The organization’s mission is to open a facility which will take at-risk youth off the streets and provide them with a safe home, food, job training and placement, counseling, and spiritual preparedness. Fight Hunger will also teach them life skills that will be beneficial throughout their lives.

Fight Hunger recently found its first home, which is located in Homestead, Florida, and it will begin preparing the home for homeless youth on February 1, 2014!

What is your role with the organization?

For the past two years, we have volunteered, planned and put into play, several outreach projects for the less fortunate. Just to name a few, we participated in Feed the Homeless, Basketball Clinic, and Hope Fest – Helping Homeless Teens. We are very excited about dedicating our time and efforts to this new home project through Fight Hunger.

Why did you decide to get involved in this organization?

The founder of Fight Hunger is a very dedicated young man, who has demonstrated his commitment by successfully instructing and influencing the young members of our church. He is passionate about positively influencing people in different communities who are less fortunate. His passion has moved and motivated us to help him successfully pursue his dream. We are confident that, through this organization, he will touch the hearts of many young individuals in our community and will make an incredible difference in their lives.

How has Kaufman, Rossin contributed to your success with this organization?

The firm has given us a platform to inform others of this great non-profit organization and raise donations to be used in a positive manner.

What is your advice for others who are thinking about getting involved in the community?

Just do it. There are too many people out there that need help. Find an organization with your values and interests, and participate. There is no better feeling and reward than helping those in need.
