ReThink & ReUse Center

Which organization are you involved in and what is its objective?

I’m involved with the ReThink & ReUse Center, an educational and environmental non-profit organization.  The main objective is to provide opportunities to early childhood educators who have the least amount of formal education and to parents so that they can contribute to building young children’s thinking skills during the most critical time of brain development.  To accomplish that objective, the ReThink and ReUse Center provides professional development workshops for educators and parents to help them understand and foster a culture of creative and critical thinking through the play process using recyclable materials, enhancing children’s learning and environmental awareness.

What is your role with the organization?

I am a member of the board of directors, serving as Treasurer.  I am also a member of the Finance Committee.

Why did you decide to get involved in this organization?

I made the decision to get involved with the ReThink & ReUse Center at the urging of a friend and former board member.  I have always believed that education is the key to getting ahead, and this organization reaches educators in underserved areas that typically do not receive formal training.  When you also consider the environmental component, it was a no-brainer for me.

How has Kaufman Rossin contributed to your success with this organization?

The firm supports my organization through the sponsorship of fundraising activities, including the jeans day fundraiser.  Additionally, the firm encourages community involvement by allowing me time to attend board meetings and other organizational activities.

What is your advice for others who are thinking about getting involved in the community?

Get involved; it is among the most rewarding things a person can do!
