Kaufman Rossin in the Community: The Anti-Defamation League

Scott Berger of Kaufman Rossin talks about his involvement in the community

Which organization are you involved in and what is its mission?

I’m involved with the Anti-Defamation League. The mission of ADL is to stop the defamation of Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.

What is your role with the organization?

I currently sit on the regional executive committee.

What prompted you to get involved with the organization?

ADL’s mission statement and being Jewish is an important part, but I found all other organizations only fought for Israel and anti-Semitism. ADL not only fights to stop anti-Semitism around the world, but the organization also seeks justice and fair treatment for everyone.

Tell us about No Place for Hate Day.

ADL created a program several years ago called No Place for Hate. This is an educational program that the organization has been teaching in schools and communities around the country. The framework is designed to combat bias, bullying and hatred, as well as inspiring long-term solutions for creating and maintaining a positive climate.

What inspired you to host a No Place for Hate Day at Kaufman Rossin?

Given the current political climate that seems to promote divisiveness – and after the Charlottesville protests and attack that killed Heather Heyer and left many others injured – I thought it was time to bring the fight mainstream and have our business leaders stand up.  Remembering ADL’s No Place for Hate program inspired the idea to move it from the classrooms to the boardrooms.
