Jordan Ede of Kaufman Rossin shares his experience as a volunteer.
Which organization are you involved in and what is its objective?
I am involved in The Order of Saint Ignatius of Antioch. Their mission is to support those in need by raising funds to support charitable giving in our community and beyond.
What is your role with the organization?
I am involved in the fundraising committee in charge of hosting our largest fundraiser of the year, the Annual Golf Outing. I also participate in meetings and attend various events throughout the year to promote the organization and expand its reach.
Why did you decide to get involved in this organization?
The reason I started and continue to support The Order of Saint Ignatius of Antioch is the unique opportunity to give back, not just to our local community but also supporting other charitable initiatives beyond South Florida. One of the biggest ways in which this organization makes a difference is through the scholarship funds we award to high school seniors going away to college. Saint Ignatius of Antioch also supports children in financial need who want to attend summer camps. We have also raised funds to support foster homes for children with disabilities.
How has Kaufman Rossin contributed to your success with this organization?
Kaufman Rossin sets the tone at the top with its commitment to community involvement and philanthropy. The firm displays this with the annual Toast to Non-profits, where the firm recognizes and acknowledges several local non-profit organizations. Through our Jeans Day initiative, employees are able to support the causes they’re most passionate about and to me it means the world to know that my company will continue to support my charitable involvement.
What is your advice for others who are thinking about getting involved in the community?
Just do it! If you haven’t already, take a leap of faith and test out different causes. I guarantee something will really resonate with you and inspire you to continue giving your time and talents.
