QuickBooks Tip: Changes Coming to QuickBooks 2015
Read
QuickBooks 2015 has arrived and there are some new features and changes you need to know about. From reporting changes to registration improvements and admin updates, QuickBooks 2015 has a clear focus on fine-tuning features that users have come to rely on. Although there are many versions of QuickBooks, the following are important changes to the Windows versions that are worth noting:
1. Do you like reminder notes? You can now “pin” a note on a customer or vendor so that it always pops up for that list. It also becomes the default note included in reports.
2. Do you have trouble sending your portable company file? There is a new feature that allows you to send a portable company file in a simpler fashion than in previous versions of QuickBooks. Once you have initiated the first file sharing, it automatically saves, so you simply have to press ‘Send’ in the future each time you need to send the file.
3. Do you ever have users logged on when they shouldn’t be? The admin user now has the ability to end another user’s QuickBooks session, regardless if their data has been saved or not.
4. Do you need to make quick annotations on a report? You can now take a snapshot of any report and add comments to any line item. I find this to be very useful when you need to quickly send questions about a report. This will also make it easier for managerial staff, accountants and owners to interpret reports.
5. Do you use your home page as your main guide around QuickBooks? An upgrade to Company Snapshot, called Insights, is much cleaner and more interactive.
With QuickBooks 2015, Intuit is addressing issues that users have been asking about for some time now. Although some of the bigger changes are mentioned above, there are also some small improvements, additions and enhancements to the 2015 version that are important to note:
- The addition of Time & Expenses to the money bar in Income Tracker
- Improvements to the registration process
- Flags on Billable Time & Costs
- Visual update to the Reminders Window
- Estimates are automatically closed when you fully invoice them
- Warnings when you inactivate inventory items that have a quantity on hand
Overall, the changes to QuickBooks 2015 demonstrate that Intuit is listening to customer feedback, providing new services and options that allow users to better tailor their programs to their specific needs.
