QuickBooks Tip: Customize Your Experience with the Intuit Marketplace

Do you know about the Intuit Marketplace?  I was discussing QuickBooks with a client recently when they shared their wish list with me  – functions that they wish the software would perform.  Although most of their wishes were not possible using QuickBooks alone, many of them were achievable using add-ons available through the Intuit Marketplace.

The Intuit Marketplace is an online store filled with apps that allow business owners to customize their QuickBooks experience.  You can search for apps by industry or business need.   As with any marketplace, some options are better than others.

Finding an app that meets your needs

As you search the Marketplace, youmay find several apps claiming to fix the issue you are experiencing.  Reading reviews posted by other users can help you determine which app is right for you.

Most apps offer a free trial, so when you think you have decided on the one you want, be sure to take advantage of the trial period before committing. Some apps have a one-time purchase fee, while others have monthly fees that vary based on the number of users.

The following are examples of apps in the Intuit Marketplace that could improve the functionality of your QuickBooks program:

1. Time Tracker – This application offers employees who work away from the office the ability to enter and job cost their time from their tablet, smartphone or desktop computer.
2. Transaction Pro Importer – This app is great for importing transactions and lists into QuickBooks, but it is best used with the assistance of your QuickBooks Pro Advisor.
3. SmartVault – A simple, secure QuickBooks document management system, SmartVault allows you to attach documents to QuickBooks entries, and access and share them anytime.

Navigating the Intuit Marketplace

If you already know what kind of app you are looking for (i.e., the function you would like the app to perform or the industry it may be categorized in), you can use the search function to find what you’re looking for. If you are interested in getting more information about a variety of apps at your disposal, you can browse the list of most viewed apps on the Marketplace home page. New apps are introduced to the marketplace regularly and are featured on the home page.
