QuickBooks Tip: Payroll Can Improve the Functionality of Your Business

Read

QuickBooks has long been regarded as THE all-encompassing accounting solution for small business owners. An expansive feature list and a growing selection of add-ons make the software flexible enough to work for a large majority of business services. Unfortunately, many users are unaware of, or intimidated by, an under-appreciated tool offered within the program: payroll.

Intuit offers a wide variety of payroll options that are user-friendly, easy to manage and that seamlessly integrate with both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online. There are three tiers of products available and the price points set for each tier are highly competitive with bigger contenders in the payroll arena.

Much like a David vs. Goliath, Rocky vs. Drago, or my favorite, Goku vs. Frieza, Intuit comes out on top more often than not when compared side-by-side with the big guns.

Unsure which tier is right for your business? Let’s take a look at the products themselves:

Basic Payroll

  • $20 per month and $2 per employee per month
  • Full QuickBooks integration
  • Pay W-2 employees
  • Free direct deposit
  • Free printable payroll checks
  • Free expert phone, chat and email support
  • Easy paychecks that only require you to enter the hours worked

Enhanced Payroll

    • Allows you to pay 1099 contractors
    • Electronically file W-2s at year end and print W-2s for employees
    • Includes Federal and State payroll tax forms
    • Easy manual payroll tax e-file and e-pay

Assisted/Full Service Payroll

  • $79 per month and $2 per employee per month
  • Includes everything from the Enhanced Payroll service, plus:
    • Intuit will file and pay taxes for you, with no work needed on your end
    • No tax penalties, guaranteed
    • Payroll set-up completed by Intuit
    • Access to local, federal and state tax forms
    • Detailed profit views with job costing

Overwhelmed? Don’t be. The biggest takeaway is that there is a solution available for you, no matter the size of your operation, with the potential to save your company money and improve efficiency simultaneously.

Although each option is fairly easy to get up and running with an existing QuickBooks program, contact me or another one of Kaufman Rossin’s QuickBooks ProAdvisors if you would like help overcoming your fear of payroll via QuickBooks Payroll Solutions.
