Overview
Alexander Smith leverages his Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification and industry expertise to provide financial institutions with strategic compliance solutions. He also advises clients on internal audit and internal control-related projects, such as business risk assessments and process improvement, to streamline business operations and maximize value.
In addition to leading a team of professionals and managing engagements, Alexander advises clients on a variety of consumer protection regulatory matters, including compliance reviews, policy and procedure development, examination readiness reviews, risk assessments and enforcement action remediation.
Alexander works with financial institutions on FACTA Red Flag Rules risk assessments and audits, financial reviews, branch reviews, investments operations reviews, asset and liability management reviews, allowance for loan and lease losses reviews, and securities custody and non-discretionary investment advisory services reviews. He guides clients through deposit and lending regulations, interest rate risk management and the Community Reinvestment Act.
He also helps clients address complex issues and enhance operations related to accounting, lending, remote deposit capturing, correspondent banking, payroll and human resources, and wire transfers.
Before joining Kaufman Rossin in 2013, Alexander worked at an accounting firm and management services company where he performed financial statement audits for clients in the real estate, government and commercial industries.
Alexander is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the American Bankers Association (ABA).
