Overview
Peter Smith joined Kaufman Rossin in 2010. He is a principal in the forensic, advisory and valuation services department and is a business valuation practice leader serving clients across the United States and Internationally. He has extensive experience performing valuations of businesses, business ownership interests, intangible assets, and undivided interests in real estate.
Peter assists businesses and individuals with valuation services in the areas of family law, litigation and shareholder disputes, transaction consulting, tax matters, shareholder agreements, financial reporting, employee stock ownership plans.
Peter has served both public and private businesses in a variety of industries including, but not limited to real estate, construction, government contracting, healthcare, technology, food service, manufacturing, distribution, dealerships, retail, and professional services.His expertise includes matters involving:
• commercial damage litigation
• shareholder disputes
• marital dissolution
• purchase price allocation (ASC 805)
• goodwill impairment (ASC 350)
• stock options (IRC Section 409A)
• income tax planning and reporting
• estate and gift tax planning and reporting

In addition, he provides assurance, forensic accounting, due diligence, internal control assessment, and business consulting services to both public (SEC) and private entities located in the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean. His industry experience includes construction, real estate, hospitality, manufacturing/distribution, hedge funds, and banking. He is a Certified Valuation Analyst.
