Kaufman Rossin in the Community: Junior Achievement
Read
Glenn Salzman of Kaufman Rossin talks about his involvement in a non-profit organization.
Which organization are you involved in and what is its objective?
I am involved with Junior Achievement of Greater Miami. This non-profit organization empowers young people to own their economic success. It strives to help every child in Miami-Dade have a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system so that they can become better-educated consumers, citizens, employees, and leaders.
What is your role with the organization?
I am the Volunteer Committee Chair of the Young Professional Board.
Why did you decide to get involved in this organization?
Since I moved to Miami, I was looking for an opportunity to become involved in the community, and learned through our marketing principal, Janet Altman, that Junior Achievement was starting a Young Professional board in May 2014. I thought it was a great opportunity to get involved in something from the beginning and see it grow.
How has Kaufman Rossin contributed to your success with this organization?
Kaufman Rossin has contributed a great deal to my success with the organization. On May 20th, the Firm sponsored a “JA Day” at Citrus Grove Elementary, where we had 13 volunteers from the firm go to the school and teach students for the day, promoting economic and financial literacy. Last October, Junior Achievement had a Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser, and the firm helped sponsor the event both in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.
What is your advice for others who are thinking about getting involved in the community?
There are lots of great opportunities out there. Don’t be afraid to look into different organizations and find what you are passionate about.
