Kids Are Community Superheroes at “Take Your Child to Work Day”

We had lots of little helpers at our Miami office today for “Take Your Child to Work Day.” Not only did they help their parents at work, but they also helped our community.

Nearly 50 kids enjoyed a fun day of games and art activities while they learned about the importance of being a community “superhero” by assisting those in need. Kara Stearns Sharp, a forensics, advisory and valuation services principal who brought her 9-year-old daughter Abigail, told the kids how Kaufman, Rossin is involved in the community and taught them about the importance giving back. Speakers from Miami Children’s Hospital led a service project in which the kids created activity books to send to sick children at the hospital.

After a “super pizza” lunch, they took a tour of the office building, decorated superhero masks, and each took home a framed photo of themselves with the family member who brought them.

Formally known as Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, the national program was started in 1993, and now has more than 37 million youth and adults participating at over 3.5 million workplaces each year. “Exposing girls and boys to what a parent or mentor in their lives does during the work day is important, but showing them the value of their education, helping them discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life, and providing them an opportunity to share how they envision the future and begin steps toward their end goals in a hands-on and interactive environment is key to their achieving success.”
