Energy Star and WaterSense Products Are Tax-Free This Weekend
Have you been eyeing a new stainless steel, French-door refrigerator? Thinking about upgrading your old washer and dryer for a water-saving, front-loading pair? Time to go shopping! This weekend you can save big on energy-efficient appliances and fixtures thanks to Florida’s new sales tax holiday.
The tax-free holiday runs from Friday, September 19th to Sunday, September 21st. During this time you won’t pay any sales tax on the first $1,500 of the sales price of qualifying Energy Star or WaterSense products. On large purchases (like that shiny new refrigerator), the tax holiday could save you $100 or more. Eligible purchases also include new dishwashers, freezers, water heaters, ceiling fans, high-efficiency toilets and showerheads and more. See the full list here.
There are some quantity limits to keep in mind. If the sales price of the item is $500 or more, you can only buy one item in that category (for example, one dryer). But if the item costs less than $500, you can buy as many as you want. So stock up on LED bulbs before it’s lights out on this deal!
