Read
Hunting vests, suspenders, and costumes are among the items you can buy this weekend in Florida without paying sales tax – you know, just in case your kid should need any of these for going back-to-school.
The 2013 sales-tax holiday runs from August 2nd through August 4th. The list of tax-exempt items approved by the Florida Legislature and Governor includes most clothing, accessories and bags ($75 or less per item), school supplies ($15 or less per item) and computers and related accessories ($750 or less per item).
There are some quirks in the law, so make sure to read this FAQ about Florida’s sales-tax holiday, which answers some tricky questions, such as “if a coupon cuts the price of a piece of clothing to less than $75, do I have to pay sales tax?” The answer is, it depends. If it’s a manufacturer’s coupon, you’ll have to pay sales tax. If it’s a store coupon, you won’t.
Happy shopping!
