Want to Appeal Your Property Tax Assessment? Act Fast.

Read

Property appraiser offices in Florida counties have issued this year’s Truth in Millage (TRIM) notices. It is important to review your notice and check that your property tax assessments are accurate. Sometimes, mistakes are discovered on clients’ property tax assessments that could lead them to pay more than their fair share – if the issues are not addressed in time.

If you feel your assessment may be too high, the deadlines to appeal your 2015 property taxes are:

  • September 14, 2015 – Palm Beach
  • September 18, 2015 – Miami-Dade
  • September 18, 2015 – Broward

If you want to appeal your assessment, be prepared to pay at least 75% of the taxes by the delinquency date of April 1, 2016, or the petition will be denied. Official tax bills for 2015 taxes are scheduled to be mailed during the last week in October for collection during the month of November.
