What Does It Mean to Be a Best Place to Work?

Read

As the head of Human Resources for Kaufman Rossin Group, I’m often asked “What does it mean to be a best place to work?” to which I usually answer, “How much time do you have?”  While it seems like a simple question, there’s much to be explained when you work with more than 400 people in five states and two countries, all working cohesively for the greater good of the company.

To me, and to many people here at Kaufman Rossin, being a Best Place to Work means:

  • Looking forward to coming to work every day (well at least 99.99% of the time)
  • Considering your co-workers your friends, not just people who sit next to you at the office
  • Being given the ability to work from home because your spouse’s employer moved out of state (or out of the country)
  • Feeling valued and appreciated by both your peers and supervisors, alike
  • Knowing you have support during difficult times in life
  • Working hard, but playing hard, too!

At Kaufman Rossin, we believe that treating people fairly means treating them differently.  That means that each one of our employees may have a different opinion of why our firm is a Best Place to Work.

You know the old saying “You can please some people all of the time and all people some of the time, but you can’t please all people all of the time”?  It may be true in most places, but definitely not within the Kaufman Rossin family; we try as hard as we can to please everyone by catering to their individual drivers for success! This means putting employees first by listening to their comments, suggestions, concerns and ideas, and then going above and beyond to implement these recommendations in a way that shows our appreciation for the pride our people take in their workplace. I could ask five people right now what makes our firm a Best Place to Work, and I guarantee I would get five different answers.

I’ll settle on telling you what it means to me – it means being proud of where I work!
