Breakthrough Miami pays tribute to Michael Elkin of Kaufman Rossin

Kaufman Rossin, the largest independent accounting firm in Florida and one of the top 100 CPA and advisory firms in the U.S., announced today that Forensic, Advisory and Valuation Services Principal Michael P. Elkin, CPA, CFF, ABV, CFE, has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to Breakthrough Miami.

This recognition comes as Breakthrough Miami, the nationally recognized model for out-of-school academic enrichment and youth leadership, celebrates its 30th anniversary. As Miami’s “Opportunity Generator,” the organization has seen tremendous success with its students-teaching-students model, which addresses education inequity “by creating a vibrant learning environment for academically motivated students from traditionally marginalized communities.” Elkin and other honorees were recognized as part of the organization’s 30th Anniversary Virtual Tribute event and kick-off to its 2021 Support-A-Scholar season.

“I’m proud to be counted among the scores of Breakthrough team members that have poured their lives and souls into this village of opportunity,” said Elkin.

As a founding member of the organization’s board of directors and current vice chair, Elkin has played a vital role in ushering Breakthrough Miami’s transformative growth from a small operation with great promise to an independent 501(c)(3) with a multi-site service delivery model. Fueled by an unwavering belief in the promise of student potential and equitable educational opportunities and a vision for an inclusive and empowered community, Elkin has worked tirelessly to build and safeguard Breakthrough Miami’s financial foundation. His leadership and expertise have provided vigilant oversight of fiscal and operational health.

As the forensic, advisory and valuation services practice leader at Kaufman Rossin, Elkin has more than 30 years of experience providing business consulting, forensic accounting, litigation consulting and expert witness testimony in the areas of financial investigations, economic damages, insurance claims, business valuation, intellectual property infringement, breach of contract, professional liability, and complex accounting, finance and business matters.
