Carlos Somoza Advises on Investing in U.S. Real Estate at French-American Chamber Seminar
Kaufman Rossin’s Carlos Somoza, an international tax principal, was a guest speaker at the French-American Chamber of Commerce’s Real Estate Cocktail seminar on March 7th.
Somoza led a discussion on the “The Pitfalls of the American Dream: Real Estate Investments Do’s and Don’ts.” He discussed some of the most common mistakes investors tend to overlook, as well as offered a few key planning strategies for foreigners investing in U.S. real estate.
Somoza is an international tax principal with more than 15 years of experience in federal income, gift and estate taxation. He provides international inbound and outbound planning for U.S. and foreign multinational corporations, including foreign tax credit planning and structuring utilizing the Entity Classification tax provisions.
Prior to this speaking opportunity, Somoza gave a Spanish presentation on the tax implications of foreign investment in the United States to a Colombian Mayor’s trade delegation visiting Broward County.
