Joy Batteen named chief people officer at Kaufman Rossin
Kaufman Rossin, the largest independent accounting firm in Florida and one of the top 100 CPA and advisory firms in the U.S., announced the promotion of Joy A. Batteen to Chief People Officer.
Batteen leads Kaufman Rossin’s award-winning human resources department. As the firm’s employee champion, she develops and implements HR programs echoing the firm’s mission and people-first values. Moreover, Batteen influences business practice decisions and stays abreast of employment-related legal news to advise the firm’s HR objectives. Batteen has been instrumental in the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Counsel, leading the development of education and awareness programs and other initiatives.
“For over a decade, Joy has been a key part of enhancing the culture of our firm,” said Chief Executive Officer Blain Heckaman, CPA. “In her new position, she will find new ways to help us attract, recruit, retain and develop our most important investment: our people.”
Batteen has received several awards recognizing her leadership and impact, including the “2018 Excellence in Human Resources Award” from South Florida Business & Wealth and “Power Leader in Human Resources” by the South Florida Business Journal in 2016 and 2017. She has also been named an “Excellence in Human Resources Honoree” by the South Florida Business Journal.
Batteen remains active in the community and is the president of P.E.O., Chapter EL (an international philanthropic educational organization) and co-chair of 150+ Women Strong, Girls Inc. of Greater Miami. She is also a member of the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management.
Batteen earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Kansas.
