Kaufman Rossin Chairs YWCA South Florida Economic Justice Council

Economic justice initiative fights racism with workforce pipeline program and awareness series

Kaufman Rossin, one of the top 100 CPA and advisory firms in the U.S., announced today that the firm has partnered with YWCA South Florida to chair its Economic Justice Council and serve as the lead sponsor of the YWCA South Florida Workforce Pipeline Program.

These new initiatives aim to successfully place 300 underemployed, under-represented women into the living-wage workforce in the next two years, recession-proofing them and their families from continued systemic discrimination.

Kaufman Rossin will be joined on the Economic Justice Council by other leading organizations, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Bilzen Sumberg, Bank of America, J.P. Morgan Chase, Univision, Baptist Health South Florida, Apollo Bank, Miami Dade College and others.

“Business leaders have a responsibility to take action on the critical issues facing our society, including racial equity, social justice and economic empowerment. We owe it to our employees, customers, and our communities to help advance positive change in these areas,” said Kaufman Rossin CEO Blain Heckaman. “We’re proud to continue working with YWCA South Florida to champion these causes.”

The firm is also the presenting sponsor for YWCA South Florida’s new Economic Justice Panel Series, an educational webinar series designed to shed light on the financial struggle facing six in 10 Floridians and “positively change perception, practice, and policy.” The first three topics will be available through the organization’s Facebook Live stream in January:

  • January 13: Justice and the Workforce
  • January 20: Justice and Wealth Building
  • January 27: Justice and Small Business/Entrepreneurship

In December 2020, Kaufman Rossin was honored as one of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (AFP) National Philanthropy Day Hometown Heroes for the firm’s partnership with YWCA South Florida to provide the local community with the 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge.
