Ralph MacNamara of Kaufman Rossin Honored with CABA Amigo Award

Kaufman Rossin Principal Ralph MacNamara was presented with the 2019 Amigo Award by the Cuban American Bar Association. The award is a special honor that recognizes a CABA member or individual who has assisted in the promotion of CABA ideals and goals, such as promoting diversity and pro-bono services.

The Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) is a non-profit bar association founded in 1974 by lawyers of Cuban descent. Members include judges, lawyers and law students. It was launched in an effort to provide scholarships at Florida law schools. Through its pro-bono work, the organization has helped the indigent community in Miami-Dade County obtain access to legal services they could not otherwise afford. CABA Pro Bono was nationally recognized in 1992 by President George H.W. Bush as a Point of Light for its work on behalf of the community.

CABA Pro Bono Legal Services is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was established by several of CABA’s past presidents to assist poor and indigent Spanish-speaking individuals in South Florida by connecting them with Spanish-speaking attorney volunteers.  The organization provides pro-bono legal services to victims of domestic violence and human trafficking; unaccompanied immigrant minors and veterans, among others.

The award was presented at CABA’s 45th annual installation gala on January 26, 2019. Previous recipients of the CABA Amigo Award include Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Attorney General Bill McCollum, and State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, among others.

“It’s been an honor to serve on the board of CABA Pro Bono since 2010,” said MacNamara. “CABA Pro Bono has provided free legal services to literally thousands of individuals in South Florida, often with remarkable life-changing results.  I regularly tell the attorneys at CABA Pro Bono they’re doing God’s work in helping the neediest of individuals and families in our community.”

MacNamara leads Kaufman Rossin’s business development team and is responsible for driving the firm’s growth strategies, while also overseeing the firm’s involvement in the community. He co-founded the firm’s IT security and computer forensic practices and often works with attorneys to assist with forensic accounting, economic damages, e-discovery and expert testimony needs.
