NextGen leaders: This is how we do it
Throughout Kaufman Rossin’s 60th anniversary year, you’ll see viewpoints in this space from firm members sharing how our Joy at Work culture translates into our commitment to client relationships and service. You’ll see how that Joy has helped us create very special professional and personal lives. My story goes one step further to share my Joy in developing the next generation of leaders.
I’m pleased to announce that, on January 1, 2023, my partners Kara Sharp and Adam Rabinowitz assumed the leadership of our firm’s forensic, advisory and valuation practice. This long-anticipated move leaves me free to concentrate on several things that bring me great Joy: doubling down on litigation cases and focusing on the next generation of testifying experts and the continued expansion of the practice. And it provides the firm and our clients with the next generation of leadership, in two professional experts whose technical talents and client relationship DNA are balanced with innovative thinking and proven people development skills.
That’s how we do it here, at Kaufman Rossin.
For six decades this firm has been all about the people – our employees first, then our clients, and lastly the firm owners. When I made the move to join our firm more than two decades ago, I chose the place (to quote our founders Jim Kaufman and Jay Rossin) where I knew I would want to go to work every day. That’s why they started this firm, and that culture – truly people first – is what has made this such a great place to spend my career. The litigation consulting department was a small, solid group of five professionals then; now we have 45 dedicated team members and dozens of other supporting characters to meet the needs of attorneys and clients seeking forensic and valuation services.
Let me tell you a little about my trusted colleagues Kara and Adam.
Kara Stearns Sharp
Principal, Forensic, Advisory and Valuation Services
Kara Stearns Sharp is a South Florida native. She’s been with the firm since 2006, with over a decade of Big Four experience prior to joining us. Her practice has included general business consulting, due diligence, investigative and forensic accounting services, litigation consulting and expert witness testimony.
Attorneys across South Florida have learned to rely on Kara for some of their most complex matters. She and Scott have two grown daughters and are crazy about animals (ask her to show you pics!) She’s a people developer, and a community leader in with Gulliver Schools, Breakthrough Miami, Educate Tomorrow and more. I’m proud to turn leadership over to Kara, who has been running the department with me for more than five years.
Adam Rabinowitz
Principal, Forensic, Advisory and Valuation Services
Adam Rabinowitz was born in New York, and he’s built his career in Miami. He’s another example of someone who built a solid professional base at a Big Four before joining us. Adam joined our Best Place to Work in 2011. He has more than 15 years’ experience providing expert witness and litigation consulting services related to economic damages, and fraud investigations.
A prior colleague called him an “outside the box” thinker and praised his ability to organize raw data into easy-to-understand formats. I agree – and so do his clients. He delights in finding new ways to serve their evolving needs– and trust me, that evolution is happening faster than ever. Adam and Leslie are raising two kids, and he’s an enthusiastic participant in professional events, particularly those that support the community.
