Carlos A. Somoza to chair FIU Honors College Dean’s Advisory Board

Kaufman Rossin, the largest independent accounting firm in Florida and one of the top 100 CPA and advisory firms in the U.S., announced that International Tax Principal Carlos A. Somoza, JD, LL.M., has been appointed to serve as chair of Florida International University Honors College Dean’s Advisory Board effective June 2021.

The FIU Honors College Dean’s Advisory Board is made up of several community leaders from various industry sectors who “contribute their support, wisdom, and expertise to shape, enrich, and sustain the Honors College and its programs.” The Honors College is the center of undergraduate academic excellence at FIU and offers a unique academic and social experience to its students.

Somoza leads Kaufman Rossin’s international tax services practice and has over 25 years of experience in federal income, gift and estate taxation. He provides international tax planning for U.S. and foreign multinational corporations. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida International University and has remained a committed alumnus, holding various leadership positions. Most recently, he served as treasurer of the university’s Community Advisory Board.
