Joy A. Batteen Receives 2018 Excellence in Human Resources Award
Joy A. Batteen, director of human resources at Kaufman Rossin, is a recipient of the 2018 South Florida Business & Wealth (SFBW) Excellence in Human Resources Award. The honor recognizes distinguished HR professionals who build and nurture talent throughout their organizations and elevate their local companies to the top of their industries, according to SFBW. The awards are based on public nominations and SFBW’s research.
“It’s nice to be recognized for work that isn’t always as tangible as others’,” Batteen said. “HR is essential for many organizations ─ especially at Kaufman Rossin where we recognize our employees as the foundation of our success. We are a ‘people-first’ company, and HR plays an integral role in that.”
Batteen leads Kaufman Rossin’s award-winning human resources department and spearheads the firm’s recruiting efforts. She focuses on engaging employees when managing Kaufman Rossin’s HR programs, including recruitment and employee retention initiatives.
She also oversees the firm’s wellness initiatives, which led Kaufman Rossin to win the “Best Health & Wellbeing Program” award at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s 2016 Excellence in HR Awards.
“Joy has been a substantial driver of the firm’s culture, which has been recognized throughout the years,” said Kaufman Rossin CEO and Founding Principal James R. Kaufman, CPA. “It is a great satisfaction to see her grow and succeed in her role.”
Batteen is a member of the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management. She is also active in the community through P.E.O., Chapter EL (an international philanthropic educational organization), Women of Tomorrow and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter.
