Heidy M. Duarte is a Principal at Kaufman Rossin, where she specializes in Internal Audit and Regulatory Risk Solutions. She brings over 25 years of experience in forensic accounting, risk management, regulatory compliance, and internal audit, advising financial institutions including banks, broker-dealers, money services businesses (MSBs), and other non-bank financial institutions across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Heidy is widely recognized for her expertise in BSA/AML/OFAC compliance, internal audit, FDICIA implementation and compliance, fraud prevention, and digital banking regulatory implementation. Prior to joining Kaufman Rossin, she led the National Forensics Practice at a global advisory firm, directing AML and regulatory compliance initiatives throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Her professional expertise includes forensic investigations, AML/CTF risk assessments, model validation, remediation and lookback reviews, regulatory enforcement response, customer due diligence, mergers and acquisitions advisory, and comprehensive regulatory gap analyses. She also works closely with international financial institutions seeking to obtain and maintain access to U.S. correspondent banking relationships, supporting alignment with U.S. regulatory expectations and strengthening compliance, sanctions, and risk management frameworks.
Heidy is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, where she shares insights on regulatory trends, financial crime prevention, correspondent banking, and emerging risks impacting the global financial services industry.
She holds multiple professional certifications, including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Specialist (CFS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), and Anti-Money Laundering Certified Associate (AMLCA).
Heidy is actively involved in industry and community leadership, serving as a Board Member of the Financial & International Business Association (FIBA), a Board Member of United Way Miami, an Executive Committee Member of Women United, incoming Co-Chair of the United Way Tocqueville Society (2026–2028), and a member of The Bass Museum. In 2021, she was honored with the Women in Business/Accounting Leadership Award by the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master of Accounting degrees from Florida International University and completed the Risk Management for Corporate Leaders program at Harvard Business School. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
