Lazaro Escandel, CPA

As CFO, Laz leads the financial and operational functions that keep the firm running efficiently and positioned for the future. He oversees financial planning, budgeting, and performance management, while strengthening internal controls and safeguarding the firm’s assets. He also supports firm leadership with financial insight and strategic guidance and manages enterprise risk to protect and grow the firm’s financial position.

Laz’s expertise is rooted in a long career in audit and assurance, where he worked extensively with private and public companies across manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, and retail. He has led audit engagements for multi-national corporations, collaborating with foreign and domestic subsidiaries to promote efficiency throughout the auditing process, and has counseled companies on covenant compliance and the financial parameters within bank loans that affect clients’ performance.

He also has deep experience preparing and reviewing income tax provisions for financial statements and recommending strategies to strengthen internal controls, work that has given him a strong command of financial risk and the operational detail that now informs his approach as CFO.

Laz joined Kaufman Rossin in 1996 and has long been a champion for IT innovation, leveraging technology to improve efficiency across financial and auditing processes. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
