Louis Guay

As a leader of the firm’s cost segregation practice, Louis brings an engineering background to every engagement. His team conducts engineering-based cost segregation studies, built from the ground up for each property, helping clients who are constructing, acquiring, or renovating commercial or residential real estate identify components eligible for 100% bonus depreciation or accelerated depreciation. His practice serves a broad range of property types, including commercial buildings, multifamily, hotels, industrial facilities, offices, retail, and short-term rental properties, across the United States with a strong presence in Florida and the Southeast.

Louis also leads the firm’s R&D Tax practice, helping businesses in a wide range of industries, including technology, manufacturing, aerospace, biotechnology, food and beverage, fintech and health tech, qualify for and capture federal and state Research Credits. Louis also works with early-stage companies in South Florida’s growing innovation ecosystem, helping them implement strategies to capture and substantiate R&D tax credits.

Before joining Kaufman Rossin in 2014, Louis was a senior manager at a Big Four firm. He has authored articles in The Miami Herald, South Florida Business Journal, and Small Biz Daily and currently serves as President of the board of directors for the Canada- Florida Chamber of Commerce. He is bilingual in English and French.

Louis holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal and a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Florida International University.
